Mitchell’s Plain Urban Renewal Project

Part of the Presidential national urban renewal strategy, which focuses on areas of greatest deprivation and emphasises two principles:

• Mobilisation of local communities so that they can become actively part of their own development
• The alignment of the three spheres of governments budgetary resources to initiate and support urban renewal projects

Key tasks:

• Assist with identification and implementation of urban renewal project
• Member of the project management team
• Provide technical support to the urban renewal forum
• Engage with community organisations and councillors
• Management of the Mitchell’s Plain part of the project
• Writing of community participation reports
• Co-ordinating public participation processes in Mitchell’s Plain
