Sustainable Coastal Livelihoods Projects
This project involved the developlement and establishment of infrastructure for Western Cape fishing communities and the establishment of sustainable aquaculture projects within these areas.
Key tasks:
- Development of a fish processing and fish market facility at Paternoster
- Development of a holding and fish processing facility at St Helena Bay
- Infrastructure and mussel raft development, culturing of mussels on artificial rafts and culturing of seaweed on the West Coast region
- Establishment of mussel farming project at Saldanha
- Establishment of Abalone farming at Doringbaai
- Establishment of seawater abalone farming at Saldanha Bay
